Part Four - why we should preserve democracy 

 Why should we persevere democracy in New Zealand?

Firstly, It makes sure the government looks after the state's best interest because it wants to be elected next term. This means it looks after everyone in New Zealand, not just the rich, powerful and those in the dictator's inner circle, and does what is good of all of New Zealand, not just what the dictator wants to look after.

Because everyone can vote or stand as a candidate, it means everyone has a voice and a equal say, encouraging equality in all areas of society and meaning we all say what we think is important. This, as well as the fact more people are normally involved in the democratic process, means more ideas can circulate. Other factors in this are  the fact that  diversity is in encouraged more and opinions are not oppressed as all people can have their say and speak freely. Because their are more ideas being shared and developed, New Zealand can become a better place to live and some of these ideas can be spread across the world, improving life for people in many countries.
